out-Syndrom (19). Aufgrund seiner immun-
modulatorischen Eigenschaften und posi-
tiven Wirkungen auf kognitive Funktionen
könnte Ginseng demnach nicht nur in der
Stresstherapie eine interessante Behand-
lungsmöglichkeit darstellen, sondern auch
als unterstützendes Mittel in der Behand-
lung des Burn-out-Syndroms wirksam ein-
gesetzt werden.

Sarcandra glabra gegen Stress
Sarcandra glabra ist eine in den Tropen und Subtropen beheimatete Pflanze. Volksmedizinisch wird sie in China zur Anhebung mentaler Stärke und zur Rehabilitation von Stress verwendet. Sarcandra glabra könnte in Zukunft zur Reihe der Arzneipflanzen mit dokumentierter Wirksamkeit gegen stressbedingte Beschwerden stossen. Dafür spricht eine 2009 publizierte pharmakologische Studie (1). Ein chinesisches Forscherteam untersuchte die Wirksamkeit von Sarcandra-glabra-Extrakten auf die immunologische Antwort, inbegriffen natürliche Killerzellen
Sarcandra glabra
(NK) und seine antioxidative Wirkung in Splenozyten von Labormäusen. Die Studie zeigte, dass die Fütterung der Mäuse mit einer definierten Menge von Sarcandra-glabra-Extrakt zu einer Verminderung der stressbedingten Abnahme der Lymphozyten führte. Auch weitere Parameter sprachen für eine Wirksamkeit des Extrakts gegen stressbedingte Veränderungen. ◆
